Comment on Restoration Theology Part 1: Perfection vs. Good by Socratic-Nietzsche

I'm not 100% convinced that Perfection exists.

Think about it... what is perfection? it's a word. end of story. There's not difference in saying "God" is perfect verses saying "God" is nanapoopoodeediedoe!

Perfection is a word that describes a HUMAN idea...
perfection is an idea of the unattainable "ideal"
but what IS this ideal?
Doesn't the "ideal" differ from person to person?
So perfection is a word that describes a HUMAN "ideal" that differs from individual human to individual human

If "God" is "perfect" then "God" is simply an imagined human construct. Thus the arguments of religion being constructed to control human beings into compliance are correct. If "God" is a perfect being, then religion is simply manufactured control technique.

But if you take human concepts off of "God," you simply have Deity... Deity simply IS... Deity is the compilation and totality of all that is... Deity is... for humans to restrict DEITY to human ideas, concepts, and forms... is simply asinine!

Why does "God" have to be perfect? Why does "God" have to be all-good? Why does "God" have to fit into our tiny little fucking human constructed box that we create for him out of our own arrogance!?!??!

Why can't "God" just simply BE?

Friend,

Amendment one was worse than stated. Gay marriage was already illegal in NC. The Amendment made it much more difficult to overturn due for a need for subsequent amendment.

Black congregations are historically more anti Gay than whites. 'White Bread" does not apply.

In 2008, the leading countries of origin for immigrants were Mexico, India, the Philippines, and China.

But brother, I'm an ally. I'm on your side. We have to fight the enemy with facts. Nothing else will do. Please forgive any offence on my part but, I consider you a role model and am also an equal right advocate.

What this boils down to is the constitution. All orientations have equal rights under the first and fourteenth amendment to the US constitution. I am no liberal but, as a constitutionalist, the Federal government needs to intervene.

The problem is, if it goes to the supreme court, it's an all or nothing deal risking same sex marriage rights in all 50 states.

I am really sorry this happened to these folks and we need to press on and continue the fight. We must out think them and not get caught up in the emotion.

I love you as a brother in Christ and will refrain from comment in the future if wanted.

Be blessed and keep up the fight!

Good stuff! We've had this discussion in our cohort, especially sexuality and the single. The church (not just the evangelical but the mainline) has really distorted and perverted the beauty and sacredness of sex. A great book on this, which we referred to in our conversation, is "Sexuality and the Sacred: Sources for Theological Reflection".

I am very grateful to you for this reality you are so brave in sharing. Denominations as organizations set ministry beyond hums sufferings, like pain or aging or pathologies. Science is ignored, social sciences ignored and by doing so the denominational proclaimations for latitude becomes irrelevant. You have made the dialogue relevant. Thank you. No more hiding, pain, aging, gender differences, class differences all the untidiness of being human is a gift you have given.
